If Every Usher Was Just Like Me, What Would This Usher Board Be?

School of Ushering/Alumni
  The main purpose of the School of Ushering is to teach the National George T. Grier unique silent system of Ushering.  In addition it is the responsibility of the state to ensure that training programs exist in every unit of the State of Maryland so that all ushers are receiving adequate basic training; plan advanced regional training for ushers and instructors so that additional skills can be learned; provide periodic meetings with the Deans of each member unit school of ushering to discuss issues and concerns and develop recommendations for implementation at the state, regional and/or the national level.

· The Alumni Department is a Department of the State of Maryland  which consists of former graduates/member ushers who have graduated from each Unit  School of Ushering.

· To purpose of the Department is to keep the graduates of each Unit School of Ushering together as Church, Charity, School, and Civic workers.
· To continue to increase the Student Body in each Unit School of Ushering.
· To continue to encourage each Unit to contribute to charitable projects.
 
· Each Unit Alumni Chairperson makes sure that their Unit contributes to charitable projects twice a year.
· The State Alumni Chairperson assigns a Drill Master and each Unit Chairperson nominates a member/usher from their Unit to serve on the Drill Team to study and learn the National Drill to be demonstrated by the Drill Team at the Eastern Regional Conference.
· Each State Alumni Chairperson selects members/ushers from their State to study and learn the National Drill and Floor Demonstration to serve as Judges at the National Convention.
· Each State Alumni Chairperson is to submit the number graduates from their State School of Ushering becoming graduates to the Alumni Department for Certificates to be awarded to each graduate attending the National Convention.
· Each State Alumni Chairperson represents their State by attending the National Alumni Department meetings held by the National Alumni Chairperson at the seat of the National Convention to give a report of the activities and charitable projects done in their State for the year and to obtain information or new procedures to report to their State Alumni members.
· Each State Alumni Chairperson submits the names of Ushers from their State to serve as Judges for the National Drill Floor Demonstration Competitions.
· Assist the National Alumni Department with all ushering to be done at the seat of the National Convention.
· Participate in the Special Projects of the National Alumni Department by nominating the name of an Usher from each State to compete in the Usher of the Year Project and to develop and prepare a Book of Sevens to be submitted for the Book of Sevens Project competition.
 
· This Department meets before the State Meeting.
